DivinusLab Multi Collagen Protein Review
This review examines a product called DivinusLab Multi Collagen Protein. We really like that this product contains 7.8 grams of collagen and only requires one scoop of powder to get this daily serving. We were also glad to see that this product has a reasonable price tag. These were the positive attributes of this product.
Some aspects of this product which failed to impress us include its collagen blend. Many times manufacturers will include a proprietary blend of ingredients in their formula. While this looks impressive on a label, practically it means that manufacturers can stuff many ingredients into their formula without detailing how much of each one is included.
Specifically, this Multi Collagen blend is formulated with grass-fed beef, chicken, wild fish and eggshell collagen peptides. We are pleased to see the inclusion of wild fish because studies have shown that marine collagen is more readily absorbed by the body as it is made up of smaller peptides, therefore proving better results. We are more hesitant to endorse the inclusion of bovine collagen as it can carry a risk of transmitted diseases such as mad cow disease.
This powder also includes Sodium. This is great as there are studies which show how sodium increases the absorption of collagen into the bloodstream. However, it also means that this powder is not a completely pure product which detracts from its maximum efficacy.
Furthermore, according to our research, combining collagen from different sources can negatively impact the body’s ability to absorb them. Type I and Type III collagen are generally paired together as they support the health of the skin and the joints, but they should be taken separately from Type II collagen which is typically only for joint health.
DivinusLab Multi Collagen Protein lists the following types which are included here which are types I, II, III, V and X. We do wonder about the efficacy of all of these types. From many products we have analyzed, we see that the ones which target skin and joints seem to focus solely on types I and III. As this product also claims to target skin and joints, it is interesting that they choose to stuff many types of collagen into their powder.
Another slightly worrying aspect is the website of this product. It is one page with the photo of this product and only one option to click on the word, ‘shop’. This directs you to their Amazon page. While this is not terrible or illegal, it does show that this manufacturer does not produce any other health or beauty products. When a manufacturer only produces one product, it leaves us in doubt as to how trustworthy they are. So while this product is definitely affordable it comes with a significant risk.
The final failure of this product is their money back guarantee if you are not happy with the result. While there is one, it is only for 30 days and you may have to pay a restocking fee. This is upsetting because it could take longer than a month before you notice results.
Is DivinusLab Multi Collagen Protein Effective?
We like that DivinusLab Multi Collagen Protein powder contains a large dose of hydrolyzed collagen. Hydrolyzed collagen means that the collagen has been broken down through the process of hydrolysis so that it can be easily digested by the body. Therefore, hydrolyzed collagen provides better and faster results. However, not all of its sources of collagen are hydrolyzed, which is concerning.
Since the product doesn’t have its own website, we turned to Amazon to check out the customer reviews to see what consumers’ experiences were. While many of the reviews seem to be positive 5-star reviews, there are only about 50 reviews in total. This is compared to hundreds of reviews for other collagen products.
Additionally, when we investigated further, we saw that the reviews don’t actually say much. The most positive comments were that the product dissolves well. It was hard to find something about any actual results. When reading review after review which is only one line in length, all together they have a false ring to them. It’s always advisable for consumers to read reviews in depth and this product is no exception.
Is DivinusLab Multi Collagen Protein Safe?
This product does not appear to contain any ingredients that should cause harm. Those with a beef, chicken or fish allergy should not use this product.
As with any new health supplement or diet introduced into your daily life, we always advise talking to your healthcare professional about possible contraindications of any pre-existing medical conditions or medications that you are taking. Supplements work differently for everyone and the effects vary between individuals so it is always a good idea to run any health changes with a professional.
Summary
At first, DivinusLab Multi Collagen Protein appeared to have most of the qualities we look for in a collagen powder because it contains hydrolyzed marine collagen. However, it was disappointing to see that this powder contains a proprietary blend with many other types of collagen such as bovine and chicken which can carry other risks. Additionally, because the types of collagen are listed in a proprietary blend, it’s unclear how much marine collagen is even found in the formula.
The customer reviews appeared very good on the surface, but when delving deeper, they were all extremely short and didn’t have anything substantial to say. Furthermore there were only a very small amount of reviews leading us to doubt their veracity.
We appreciate that the manufacturer offers a money-back guarantee, however, with only 30 days to return the product if you are unsatisfied, we feel this is not sufficient time to really try out the product. The manufacturer does not produce any other health or beauty supplements to test so we can only judge them based on this one product. On the one hand, it is reasonably priced, but, on the other, there is a lot of truth to the age old adage that you get what you pay for.
