This manufacturer provides a range of collagen products as well as some other health supplements. These collagen capsules claim to help improve the texture of your skin as well as reduce fine lines and wrinkles. They are also designed to help improve joint health. However, does the reality meet this expectation? 

When reviewing this product, we were pleased to see a price tag that suggests quality.  We appreciate that these capsules contain high-quality collagen and that they are GMP certified. The biggest problem is that this product utilizes 4 different collagen sources, providing 5 different types of collagen, which has been shown to negatively affect absorption. If your body isn’t absorbing the collagen, then you will get very little benefit from it.

Marine collagen (derived from fish) has been shown in studies to be the easiest absorbed collagen compared to all the sources. This product contains marine collagen in a blend with other collagen sources, so it is not clear how much collagen from each source these capsules contain. To get the best results, it is recommended to take between 3 and 6 capsules a day, so one bottle will last between 2 weeks and 1 month.

Vital Proteins Marine Collagen contains collagen derived from non-GMO wild-caught white fish which is easy for the body to digest. We really like that this product contains only marine collagen which has been shown to be the type of collagen most easily absorbed by the body. This manufacturer offers the marine collagen in both a powder and capsule form. Our review takes a look at the collagen capsules.   

We liked that these capsules also contain Sodium which is essential for the absorption of the collagen. However, we were disappointed that these capsules excluded Vitamin C which is beneficial for the production of collagen. The number of capsules that is required a day to get an adequate dose is very high.
